Sal grew up playing soccer in Sacramento, California where he was born. His family moved to Mexico where his passion for “futbol” continued to grow. Moving back to California he continued playing soccer and was the team captain for Hayward HS in the Bay Area. After graduating from high school he played at Chabot College and local amateur leagues in Oakland and San Francisco. Currently, he continues to play in adult leagues.

A graduate of St. Mary’s College of California with a degree in Law Studies, he is now the assistant head coach at Los Medanos Community College, the Varsity coach at Freedom HS and head coach at Heritage SC. His passion for working with young children has led him to become the Director of the U4-U8 Development Academy at Heritage SC.

Sal holds a USSF National D License, NSCAA National Diploma, NFHS Certification, USSF Grade 8 Referee License and a Positive Coaching Alliance Double-Goal Coach Certificate. Every year he attends courses, seminars, symposiums and any educational events that can help further his knowledge about coaching soccer and developing young players. He feels that a coach can never stop learning to be great at teaching kids how to become all-around great players and better yet, amazing human beings.

Sal is married to his beautiful wife Margarita, they both are blessed with 3 wonderful kids: Javier, Alyssa and Janessa. All his kids play soccer (of course)!

While introducing kids to the “beautiful game,” Sal seeks to leave a long-lasting and positive impact on all participants. His goal is to positively influence youngsters and encourage them to achieve their goals and dreams!
